Hematology & Blood Bank Technology

Students will learn the basic medical sciences and specialize in the techniques of Blood banking, transfusion, and hematology. The program utilises technical scientific methods for the purpose of blood testing and trains students to assist physicians in the processes of blood transfusion procedures.

The syllabus explores the various fields of genetics, immunology, blood group collection, storage and blood transfusion amongst others. Blood bank technology specialists carry out all operations of the blood bank, from routine testing to the most advanced procedures. Most blood bank technology specialists work as technical supervisors and laboratory managers and oversee reference laboratories
